Homework
The aim of homework is to encourage the child to develop good study habits and to establish a pattern of inquiry and application of learning, which can be carried into high school and college.
Parents can help achieve this purpose by ensuring a dependable routine at home. Essential to this routine is a regular time for study and regular bedtime each weeknight. The provision of a quiet place for study, free from interruption of radio, television, telephone, or outside distractions is important.
Parents should always express interest in the child’s work and in specific assignments and never lead the child to feel it is burdensome or unimportant. At the same time, pressure should be avoided. If an assignment is not understood, it is better for the child to seek an explanation from the teacher the next day.
When a student is absent for one day, missed work is assigned upon returning to school. When absences exceed one day, homework may be requested through the office. Calls to request homework should be made by 10:00AM. Work is then available to pick up at the front office at 3:30PM.
Please note: If your child is absent on a test day, the make up test may be required before or after school.
